M.Sc. in Biochemistry

The session begins  from July 1st and consist of 4 semesters

B. Sc Hons. (10+2+3 system) in Biochemistry or Chemistry or Honours in Botany, Zoology, Physiology and Microbiology with Chemistry as one of the subsidiary subject.

B.Sc. Honours in Biotechnology

The session begins  from July 1st and closes on 30th June next year

Students who have passed H.S. (10+2)/ I.S.C / C.B,S.E. or equivalent with 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Mathematics are eligible for admission in Biotechnology course in the current session.

Students who have passed H.S. (10+2)/I.S.C/C.B,S.E. or equivalent with 45% marks and having Chemistry and Biology as combination subjects at H.S. or equivalent examination are eligible for admission in Microbiology course in the current session.

B.Sc. Honours in Environmental Science

Session begins  from July 1st and closes on 30th June next year

Students who have passed H.S. (10+2)/I.S.C/C.B,S.E. or equivalent with 45% marks and having Chemistry and Biology as combination subjects at H.S. or equivalent examination are eligible for admission in Microbiology course in the current session.

RULES & REGULATIONS

    

1. Proper dress code necessary for entry to th college premises.
2. Prior notification to the higher authority is compulsory for any sort of absenteeism.
3. In case of emergency, entry to the class after absence will be allowed if permitted by higher authority.
4. Entry to the college after 9:45 am will be strictly restricted.
5. Entry to the net lab is restricted between 4 pm to 5:30 pm only.
6. Skipping classes even for availing library facilities during that time is strictly prohibited.
7. Library and laboratory rules as set by authority are to be followed strictly.
8. Pre or post elongation of holidays is strictly prohibited.
9. Misbehaviour of any kind is a grave offence. Performance of the same would surely entertain guardian call and necessary punishment as deemed fit by authority including suspension/ rustication from college.
10. Misuse or destruction of any college property will entertain penalization.
11. All exams are compulsory and tentative dates for exams will be notified in prior. Cheating will be strictly penalized. 12. Attendance below 75% will entertain guardian call for further action as per university rules.
13. Any free classes if available have to be properly utilised. Moving out of the college premises during that period is not allowed.
14. Use of mobile phones and other electronic gadgets like i-pods, pager, walkman, etc. Is not allowed in college premises.
15. All mobile phones have to be kept in silent mode during class hours. Authority shall not be responsible for loss or damage of any personal property.
16. It is mandatory to get the performed practical corrected within 7 days time. Delaying will result in remarks ' LATE SUBMISSION’.
17. Students have to seek prior permission from the authority to remain in college premises instead of returning to hostels and inform the hostel authority of the same.
18. Students and guardians are responsible for all matters regarding non-home centre examinations of the university.
19. All college fees for the academic year are to be paid within the instalment date compulsory or else entertain penalization.
20. All college fees, fines, and dues are to be paid in completion and no dues certificate to be collected from respective departments including payment of annual fees in total that may remain, before seeking any kind of college leaving or transfer certificate.



ANTI-RAGGING MEASURES

 

INSTITUTE REGULATIONS ON CURBING THE MENACE OF RAGGING

The Hon’ble Supreme Court of India perhaps has given a comprehensive meaning of ragging as under:

 

"Ragging is any disorderly conduct, whether by words spoken or written, or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness any student, indulging in rowdy or indisciplined activities which cause or are likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in a fresher or a junior student and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the psyche of a fresher or a junior student."

Ragging in all its forms is totally banned in this institution including in its departments, constituent units, all its premises (academic, residential, sports, kiosks, cafeteria and the like) whether located within the campus or outside and in all means of transportation of students whether public or private. The institution shall take strict action including but not limited to criminal proceeding and/or cancellation of admission against those found guilty of ragging and/or of abetting ragging and the burden of proof shall hereby lie on the perpetrator of alleged ragging and not on the victim. An offence of Ragging may be charged either on a written complaint by the affected or on independent finding of the Anti Ragging Squad. The Institution is bound by the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions 2009.

Punishable Ingredients of Ragging:

1. Abetment / instigation to ragging
2. Criminal conspiracy to rag
3. Unlawful assembly and rioting while ragging
4. Public nuisance created during ragging
5. Violation of decency and morals through ragging
6. Injury to body, causing hurt / mental trauma or grievous hurt
7. Wrongful restraint
8. Wrongful confinement
9. Use of criminal force
10. Assault as well as sexual offences or unnatural offences
11. Extortion
12. Criminal trespass
13. Offences against property
14. Criminal intimidation
15. Attempt to commit any or all of the above mentioned offences against the victim
16. Physical or psychological humiliation
17. Any act / abuse by spoken words, e-mails, snail mails, blogs, public insults etc.
18. Any act that prevents, disrupts or disturbs the regular academic activity of a student
19. All other offences following from the definition of "Ragging".

Punishments against Ragging:

Depending upon the nature and gravity of the offence as established by the Anti-Ragging Committee of the Institution, the possible punishments for those found guilty of ragging shall be any one or any combination of the following:

1. Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges
2. Withholding / withdrawing scholarship / fellowship and other benefits
3. Debarring from appearing in any test/examination or other evaluation process
4. Withholding of results
5. Debarring from representing the institution in any regional, national or international meet, tournament, youth festival etc.
6. Suspension/ expulsion from the hostel
7. Cancellation of Admission
8. Rustication from the institution for a period, ranging from 1 to 3 years
9. Expulsion from the institution and consequent debarring from admission to any other institution for a specific period
10. Fine ranging from Rupees 25,000/- to 100,000/-
11. Collective punishment: When the persons committing or abetting the crime of ragging are not identified, the institution shall resort to collective punishment as a deterrent to ensure community pressure on the potential raggers.


In addition, in case of every single incident of ragging, a First Information Report (FIR) will be filed with the local police authorities. The possible punishment includes rigorous imprisonment (in compliance with the order of Supreme Court of India)

In the case of any ragging incident, the students may immediately call and bring it to the Principals notice for necessary help, guidance and actions.

The freshers / junior students are hereby instructed that they should move in groups within the academic areas / campus, should not respond to the calls from seniors, should not participate in any kind of "freshers’ party" anywhere inside/outside the campus, desist from doing anything against their will even if ordered by the seniors and that, they have nothing to fear as the institution cares for them and shall not tolerate any atrocities against them.
