ABOUT US

Durgapur College of Commerce and Science is the dream and aspiration of the renowned industrialist Mr. R.N.Majumder. With the untiring efforts and devoted works of the members of trust and management, Durgapur College of Commerce and Science started its journey in 2003 and got its affiliation from the University of Burdwan to impart teaching in some non traditional job oriented research based subjects like Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Environmental Science at honours graduation level. Later on, the college has got its affiliation to introduce P.G. course in Biochemistry in 2006.

At present the college has 25000 sq. ft. carpet area. The college has twelve well equipped laboratories with sophisticated apparatus, chemicals, reagents, glasswares etc. to run smoothly the U.G. and P.G courses of Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Environmental Science. A rich library with reading room having the carpet area of 1500 sq. ft. accommodating more than 2000 books, multiple journals, science magazines, multilingual newspapers. Each classroom is spacious, airy and well lighted. The college has its own play ground and gymnasium. There are in-campus separate hostel facilities for boys and girls. In-campus bank facility is also available.

Group of highly qualified and experienced teachers are engaged with full dedication and devotion for imparting teaching to the students. They truly play the role of friend, philosopher & guide, mentoring the aspiring scientists and young professionals who have taken admission in the college.

The idea behind the establishment of the self financing private college in the name of Durgapur College of Commerce and Science is that this type of college will be equipped for inculcating the basic value and to sharpen the necessary skill before encountering the real world that awaits them.

Location

Durgapur College of Commerce and Science is a self financing full fledged degree college. The college is being nourished and flourished in a total quality environment. It is situated on the side of the Grand Trunk Road (G.T.Road, N.H-2), 5 Km away from Panagarh Railway station. Station and 2 Km away from Rajbandh railway station. Station on Howrah -Asansol main line rail route. Only 2.5 hrs. journey is enough to come to the college from Howrah railway station or only 2 hrs. journey is sufficient to come to the college from Dhanbad railway station.
